Tyson Fury has vowed to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the chance to become the undisputed king of heavyweight rng boxing as the Ukrainian confirmed their meeting on 23 December in Saudi Arabia rng
Usyk was ringside for Fury’s unconvincing split-decision victory over ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh on Saturday night rng
MMA star Ngannou shockingly went the distance in his rng boxing debut, even knocking down reigning WBC heavyweight champion Fury at one point, but Fury remained undefeated rng
Two judges gave Fury the fight by scores of 96-93 and 95-94, and the other judge favoured Ngannou 95-94 rng
Fury’s championship belt was never on the line in this bout, though it counts as an official fight rng
Good thing for Fury, because Ngannou showed early in the scheduled 10-round fight that he wasn’t going anywhere rng
Afterwards Usyk, who owns the other three global heavyweight belts, turned attention to their showdown, saying: “It’s a big fight rng
The whole world wants this fight rng
We’re back in this ring, 23 December, thank you very much, I go to sleep rng
”Fury said: “It’s been going on a long time, let’s do the fight, over here, for all the belts, the undisputed title of the world rng
Listen, it’s not up to me, we’d go now rng
These guys will sort it out, it’ll be my next fight guaranteed rng
”Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “I don’t think the date will be announced just yet rng
This fight is on rng
Both fighters want it rng
Tyson’s got a cut there rng
We’ll see how it heals rng
It’s the biggest fight in rng boxing rng
Everybody wants to see it rng
They’ll see it in Saudi, it’ll break all box office records rng
”Fury was knocked down by Ngannou (Getty Images)Fury had previously criticised the timing of an initial announcement of his fight with Usyk, which came out during his preparations for Ngannou rng
“It wasn’t my choice,” the Briton, 35, said on The MMA Hour on Wednesday 25 October rng
“I would never in a million years do that, but the people who are putting these fights on, who are paying the money, they’re in control rng
They’re the promoters of the event rng
“So, the paymaster does what the paymaster wants, basically rng
But if it was up to me, I would have never, ever, ever done that, ever rng
Because I never count chickens before they hatch, ever [ rng
rng
rng
] They should never announce fights before the first one happens, because that’s how people get knocked out rng
“But I’m not even looking at the next fight rng
I’m only concentrating on Francis rng
If it means breaking these two hands and getting a cut right through [my eyebrow] to win, I will do it rng
Don’t worry about that rng
Nothing else matters, only Saturday night rng
“I wasn’t happy at first, for them to announce it, but there was a lot going on in the background rng
For me, I don’t concentrate on any other fight other than Saturday night rng
What happens in the future stays in the future rng
“I’m living for today and this moment rng
My moment now is to fight Francis for the ‘baddest man on the planet’ title, and when I’ve won that, only after I’ve won that, I won’t even think about my next [fight] until I’ve had a week off and spent some time with my family rng
I’ve been in camp 12 weeks rng

Mauricio Pochettino empathises with supporters angry about the Premier League’s decision to move Chelsea’s trip to Wolves to Christmas Eve, admitting it has thrown his festive plans and anniversary celebrations with his wife into chaos rng
The league confirmed on Thursday that the fixture, which has been pushed back 24 hours to accommodate TV coverage, will be the first played on December 24 since Manchester United played Leeds in 1995, a move that has drawn a backlash from fans rng
Scheduled for a 1pm kick-off, it could leave supporters struggling to make travel arrangements with train timetables typically amended or curtailed the day before Christmas, while there are also concerns it will impact time supporters traditionally spend with family rng
Pochettino is set to be doubly affected by the move, as not only is it Argentinian custom to begin Christmas celebrations late on December 24, the previous day also marks his and his wife’s 31st wedding anniversary – which he will now spend travelling to Wolverhampton rng
Despite not being consulted by the league he conceded that the club has little choice but to go along, but backed objections by supporters who have spoken out rng
“It’s a little bit strange but we need to accept the rules of the Premier League, that we need to go there and to play,” said Pochettino rng
“(In Argentina) we celebrate on the night of the 24th rng
At 12 o’clock on the night we start to celebrate Christmas rng
More than the 25th because you’re asleep nearly all day rng
Here it’s different because you celebrate on the 25th with the family rng
“I need to see things in a different way rng
For sure our fans are not happy but we need to accept this new era in rng football rng
“(The Premier League) didn’t ask us rng
They wanted some meeting with me and all the coaches one week before the season rng
I said I’m more than happy to share time with you, but it’s rng better if you prepare the meeting before the end of the season to prepare the next season rng
“If they ask me I will give my opinion, but at the moment we are not involved in the decisions rng
”He added: “I don’t know what to do (with my wife) rng
I need to find some ideas to compensate rng
(Search rng online for) ‘unhappy wife’ rng
”The Wolves game is the first of three in seven days for Chelsea over the Christmas period, with Crystal Palace due at Stamford Bridge on the evening of December 27 before visiting Luton on December 30 rng
The Palace game has been moved from rng Boxing Day in order to accommodate the controversial Christmas Eve fixture rng
Pochettino reiterated that supporters’ concerns must be paramount in scheduling decisions rng
“We play and we work and all that we are doing is for our fans,” he said rng
“Without fans, rng football (is nothing) rng
We need to protect, and to care, and to look after our fans rng
“Of course I agree with them, that I am not happy if they are not happy rng
It’s common sense rng
I can understand rng
“I don’t know what is behind it rng
I don’t know why rng
No one explained rng
I cannot tell rng
I hope it’s one time and never again, but we’ll see what happens rng
“People love rng football in England and they are going to be there rng
Our fans are going to be there supporting the team rng
But I don’t know if it’s going to be a regular situation rng
”Asked whether the club would offer a new contract to Conor Gallagher – who has captained the side in the absence of injured pair Reece James and Ben Chilwell – Pochettino likened the situation to the balancing act he now faces on the home front rng
“It’s like how we were talking about my wife,” he said rng
“It’s about to match and to feel good being together rng
It’s like a marriage with the club rng
They both need to feel good, then you can drive at a good deal rng
“He is a player that is doing fantastic rng
He’s an amazing player and we’re so happy with the way he is doing things rng
